Stephen Aspinall

I have been a co-opted school governor at North Leamington School since September 2015, I chair the Teaching and Leaning Committee, sit on Cabinet and I am the Governor link to Croft college, Media and ICT.

I live locally and work for the Chartered Insurance Institute (CII) in the City of London as their Corporate Development Director. The CII is a non for profit organisation providing OfQual registered professional qualifications, learning materials and professional body membership for those working in Insurance and Financial Services, we currently have over 130,000 members who sign up to a code of conduct and a commitment to Continuous Personal Development (CPD).

My additional role as a co-opted governor is to support and develop the 'school to business' link, looking to maximise the opportunities for local and national firms to work more closely with the school to help and develop the business leaders of the future.

I have worked at North Leamington School since September 2012. I lead the Student Support and Engagement Team that offers a diverse range of support to students and staff within the school

I am the elected Staff Governor for the school.

My previous career was as a Police Officer where I served in various roles and ranks prior to retirement in 2012 after 30 years

I have been a school Governor since 1999, serving at infant, primary and secondary schools, following my children through the schools they attended. They have long since finished, but I really enjoy being part of team of fellow Governors that continues to strive and ensure a quality of outstanding education for all children to access.

Joy Mitchell

I have been Head teacher at North Leamington School since September 2011. Previously I was Deputy Head at Queen Elizabeth School in Atherstone for five years. Before starting at NLS I was seconded on behalf of the Local Authority to support a school closure and amalgamation with another school in Nuneaton to become an Academy. I stayed on as acting Principal until the substantive Principal was in post. I was also Assistant Head teacher at Ashlawn School for a number of years. I have a commitment of 31 years in Warwickshire schools and have experience of working in a wide range of contexts from helping take a school out of special measures to working in an outstanding school. I’m 100% committed to NLS and with the support of our Governing Body will continue to support and encourage all members of our community to strive to be the very best that they can be.

Richard Freeth

I have been a governor at North Leamington School since 2012 and was appointed Vice-Chair in 2014. Within the governance structure I chair the Resources and Pay Committee.

Away from NLS, I am a lawyer specialising in education law and have over 17 years’ experience of this area of work.  I hope that I am able to use this experience and expertise to support leadership at NLS and ensure it continues to make outstanding provision for all students.

David Gorvett

Having been a governor at both Primary and Secondary schools over the previous 12 years, I am presently enjoying supporting NLS on its journey to continued success for all its students. My main focus has always been to place the students at the centre of our decision making. To both support them in their times of need and provide everyone with the best possible opportunity to achieve their full potential. My background is not education, so I bring a challenge and approach from the commercial world which is sometimes well received and often inappropriate! On this note, after quickly moving on from engineering, I spent 20 years with Vehicle Manufacturers and then moved over to consultancy with my business based in Warwick. As a consequence, I bring a very broad commercial view and am well positioned to help ensure governance from financial, strategic and directional perspectives.
