Careers Education at North Leamington School

Careers Education is important for our students to help them to make informed choices about options and career choices. It helps students find out what careers there are; what might suit them and how to get into their chosen career.

In every Year from 7 to 13 students learn about the world of work and different careers.

  • In Years 9, 11, 12 and 13 they focus on planning what they will do next and applying for courses as applicable.
  • Lower School students access a range of career related activities through our termly Alternative Curriculum Days.  These can be taking part in "The Real Game" which is a role play activity based on career and financial decisions faced by young adults, or career carousel events involving our local business community.
  • In Year 10 all students have a practice interview with an experienced interviewer from the world of work.  Y10 also take part in work experience for a week in June.
  • There are careers lessons as part of the Citizenship programme in Years 7 -11.
  • There are careers activities as part of the tutor programme
  • Sixth Formers participate in careers events to help them to choose university courses, or apply for work and apprenticeships.
  • We have an annual Careers Fair where we invite Universities, FE Colleges, local Businesses and Apprenticeship providers.  Students have the opportunity to visit and find out about different careers and study options.
  • All students in Y11 have either a 1 to 1 Guidance interview or a group workshop session on choosing A‚Äôlevels. These are delivered by Karen Greening, our external Careers Adviser or Orla Whelan-Davis Careers Adviser and Coordinator based at school.
  • 6th Form students have appointment slots available to book with Orla on Wednesdays
