Several schools have raised concerns with us recently about children being contacted inappropriately and sent inappropriate material using a site called We have sought advice from Warwickshire County Council Online Safety Champion Jane Key, who has given us the following advice to pass on to parents and carers:

Any social networking site has potential for good and bad – it’s the privacy settings and behaviour of the individual which are more important.  Parents and carers are advised to monitor all social media and more importantly talk to their children about safe use. is one of a long list of popular apps which children are currently using, and several schools have raised concerns about inappropriate contact and material being shared. There are some video links listed below which promote safe use and highlight how children can keep themselves safe when they are interacting with this app, along with others.

Other Advice

Contacting the police or reporting via CEOP Report Abuse is essential if it is suspected that an adult is attempting to befriend or potentially groom.

We also run coffee mornings in school to give advice and guidance to parents/carers about online safety, so please check the bulletin for future dates.
